Memorial Sermon Part I
CAROLYN LAVERN LEWIS
October 23rd, 1947 - June 19th, 2010
Mrs. Carolyn Lavern Lewis born October 23rd, 1947 went home to be with Jesus our Lord on June 19th, 2010.
Carolyn was born in Tifton, Ga, with her family relocating to Portchester, Ny. Married in 1969, Carolyn and her husband Sing raised their 2 children in Greenwich, Ct. Spending time with her family; spanning from Port Chester Ny, to her dearest friends of Adams Garden and the FBC Bowling league is where Carolyn's heart became knitted together with those around her. Carolyn was also very active in her community by taking interest in the Greenwich public schools systems where she was responsible for initiating the directive of successfully getting a middle school bus route from Adams Garden to Eastern Middle School, Carolyn was also a member of the Greenwich Public Housing Board, and Calvary Fellowship Church.Carolyn was known for her loving smile, parental care for everyone she encountered, and a fierce competitive spirit, for games such as Canasta, Spades, Bid Whiz, Scrabble and more. Carolyn enjoyed Holiday family gatherings, traveling, reading, crosswords, and doting over her 2 grandchildren.After retiring from the banking industry to which she served 35 years Carolyn with her husband of 41 years, Emmanuel "Sing" moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 41 years Emmanuel "Sing" Lewis, her son Jonathan his wife Serena and their two children Savannah and Andrew Lewis, and her loving daughter Shannel Lewis.
Carolyn is also survived by her mother Ida Nichols, brothers Maxi Jr and Peter Nichols of Port Chester, Ny. Sisters Deborah Ann, Rosalind (Allen) Collins Family of Bridgeport; Nephews, Derek (Malliya), Fonta, Christopher, Kevin (Michelle), Nathaniel, Jeremy; Nieces Alisha and Desiree. Carolyn is also survived by 2 uncles Dave (Adella) and Gerald, and Aunts Lula (James) and Alfreda, and a host of extended family, relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death is her father Maxi Nichols Sr., twin brothers Erstin and Russel Nichols, and her nephew Derek Washington Jr.Carolyn loved everyone deeply, and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Memorial Services are being held Saturday June 26th 1pm ending promptly 3pm, at Rose of Sharon Ministries Church, 71 Stillwater ave Stamford, Ct. Immediately following at 4:30pm will be the Memorial Reception Potluck at the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club.
