John 14:16-17
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, [1] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

Jesus describes 2 phases of the Holy spirit. Phase one is "he is with you"... Prior to being converted to Christianity, the Holy Spirit is with you, pointing you to Jesus Christ. Phase two, is after you become a believer in Jesus, the Holy spirit comes to live inside of you...Yet there is one more dynamic Jesus describes in acts 1:8

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus wants to "empower you" for service to be a witness for Him. The word "power used in this verse comes from the greek word "Dunamis", where we get our english word "Dynamite"
