Doin Wrong
James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Mom: Jonathan take out the trash
Jonathan (10 years old): Ok I will
Mom (10 minutes later): Didn’t you hear me?
Jonathan: yes
Mom: then why didn’t you take out the trash?
Jonathan: oh I didn’t hear you?
Years later…
Serena (my wife): Jonathan take out the trash, please.
Jonathan: will do
Serena (5 hours later): why didn’t you take out the trash
Jonathan: when did you ask me to take out the trash?
Serena: you told me you would do it earlier, what’s the matter with you, didn’t you hear me, why don’t you pay any attention to me (etc insert your own household argument here)
We do this to God too, we sit in service, or watch on tv, or even read God’s word, and yet, when we fail to apply the things God has spoken to us into our lives we deceive ourselves into thinking we have a right standing relationship with God, our spouses, our loved ones, our friends co workers, bosses etc.
Let's try to apply what we heard on Sunday, to something we do on Friday etc, rather than forget it by Tuesday.
